Proposals for a basic income guarantee or something very much like it have been made by many different authors from very different backgrounds. Most BIG proposals have been made in the last 40 years, but some, such as Thomas Paine's "Agrarian Justice," date back more than 200 years. For a review of sixteen of the most recent books on the basic income guarantee see Karl Widerquist, "Perspectives on the Guaranteed Income." (A shorter version appeared in the September 2001 issue of the Journal of Economic Issues) and "Perspectives on the Guaranteed Income, Part II."(A shorter version appeared in the Journal of Economic Issues, December 2001).
This 1.5 megabite file contains an alphabetical list over more than 2000 books and articles about or relating to the basic income guarantee.
